The Explorer

With spring settling into most parts of the country, you’ll want to start planning your fall trip. It’s not as odd as it sounds! We know many of our travellers like to book in advance to make sure they have their first choice of trip. The healthy Canadian dollar is a big bonus too as many of our trips are priced in US dollars. So we’d urge you to take advantage of this lovely spring weather and make your fall booking now!
Take a look at these great fall trips coming up.

We were delighted when a recent traveller labeled his trip to Tunisia as “one of our truly GREAT travel experiences”. We agree! Tunisia packs so much into such a small space. With its windswept landscapes, Mediterranean coastline, and desert oases nestled in the Sahara, Tunisia offers a stunning visual feast.

Our trip explores the archaeology of the amazing ancient Roman sites and Berber forts. We travel by coach, by 4x4 Land Cruiser and by camel. We stay in comfortable accommodation and a tented camp in the Sahara.

Want to see Orangutans? This is the way to do it. Malaysia's Borneo is one of the most exciting destinations on earth for the natural history enthusiast with dense jungles and a wide array of strange and little-known creatures. The island offers an irresistible combination of superb forests, incredible flora and fauna, and friendly people. On our trip we visit the Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre dedicated to rehabilitating orphaned orangutans. We travel by boat along the Kinabatangan River to stay at the Sukau Rainforest Lodge. At the Borneo Rainforest Lodge, we usually see red-leaf monkeys, long-tailed macaques and Bornean gibbons moving through the canopy as well as over 300 species of birds. We’ve called this trip “A Primate’s Playground” for all the right reasons.

If a picture can tell a thousand words our Quest leader Dave Milsom has a lot to say. Dave took some amazing pictures when he led this Canyon Lands trip last year. We have a link to his photos on our web site. You'll see stunning pictures of the Chaco Canyon, Monument Valley and the Painted Desert as well as Mountain Bluebirds, Yellow Headed Blackbirds, and Western Purple Asters. The trip takes you from Alburquerque on a scenic circuit through New Mexico, Colorado, Utah and Arizona.

A recent traveller told us: "I really enjoyed the trip, saw, learned and gathered some very memorable experiences. I will never forget my winding through the yellow buck weed for birds, the sunrise at the Grand Canyon, and the flute music resounding within and beyond the Canyon de Chelly walls." This trip makes a great close-to-home getaway.

We love to travel on the water. It’s a slow, gentle, endlessly engrossing way to take in the sights with the added benefit of a travelling hotel. The R/V Pandaw accommodates us in comfort, style and colonial character. Finished in brass and teak by local craftsmen, it’s a lovely small vessel. And its very shallow draft allows us to travel to remote areas which would be unreachable by other vessels, greatly enhancing our explorations.

We’ll take part in river life along the Mekong from My Tho, Vietnam to the Tonle Sap Lake in Cambodia. And at the end of the trip we’ll take a good look at the grandeur of Angkor Wat, surely one of the great wonders of the world.
